Are you unfulfilled in your career but are having a challenge discovering your strengths and how to use them? Do you know the career you want, but don't know how to get there? My career coaching can help you identify your strengths and translate that into a career that will be in line with your passions and purpose. Then we'll develop and execute a career search plan (resume, networking, search strategy, interview rehearsal, etc.,) that will get results.
I also support individuals who are stuck and unhappy in their lives - you want more but are either afraid to fail or are held captive to your past, limiting beliefs or the opinions of others. I'd love to help you figure out your why and what is holding you back; set goals, plans and time frames so you can feel a sense of accomplishment and achieve the life you really want.
My warm and inquisitive personality and good listening skills have served me well as a Life Coach. I engage my clients interactively with a gentle probing style and seek to serve their needs. My coaching sessions will always be about you - what you want to accomplish/where you want to go; what steps you need to take to get there, while also identifying, what, if anything may be holding you back or be a hindrance. We also identify who, along with me, can support your journey.
I have been an HR Professional for 20+ years. For the last 16 years I have coached managers and employees regarding their performance, career and often-times personal matters. After being laid off from a job I loved, I found myself stuck performing tasks that were not suited to my personality, interests or desires. So I have been where you are now! Career and Life Coaching to help people live victoriously is not only my passion, but my purpose.
I'm open to in-person coaching in the greater Washington, DC area or via skype or conference call for out-of-state or international clients.
I look forward to helping you achieve and live your life victoriously!

Absolutely life changing!
"If I could give more stars I would. Veronica was absolutely fantastic and I highly recommend her for anyone out there looking for career and life coaching.
I went into my first session in the middle of a job transition, completely lost and clueless as to what to do next. A few sessions later and it was like someone turned the lights on and I could see clearly (probably for the first time in my life). I grew heads a shoulders above where I was before and I am truly thankful to her guidance through the entire process."Phil S from Bowie, MD
"Open, timely communication and very willing to work with me."Jessa J. from Austin, TX
"We contacted Ms. Matthews to provide coaching services for staff members who were having difficulty in their new roles. She was superb. Not only did she improve organizational performance but she inspired a higher level of accountability throughout the organization."C. Page, Non-Profit Director from Bethesda, MD
"Before seeing Ms. Matthews I was walking around for weeks with a resume that I thought was less than stellar. I tried writing it myself thinking that I could produce a winning resume. Unfortunately, the way that I wrote it did not highlight my hard earned achievements and skills that I wanted recruiters and hiring managers to notice. After conducting a search for a skilled Career Coach, I stumbled upon Ms. Matthews.
Upon meeting her she took time from her busy schedule to revise my resume and make it pop! She approached my resume with enthusiasm and was genuine in wanting to produce a better resume for me. She first rephrased my resume Summary highlighting my years of experience and defined what I had proficiency in. She then helped me think about all the skills I acquired over the years so that she could bring that out in the Core Competencies section of my resume.
Next, she segued into the Experience portion of my resume and demonstrated how specific action verbs and adjectives could better quantify all of the duties that I performed in previous positions. The rewrite she did for this section created a much clearer picture of all the achievements I obtained with previous positions.
Last but not least she concluded the resume by highlighting my Education and Training experience. Since having this resume rewrite, more employers have viewed my resume via CareerBuilder.
If you're looking for a compassionate resume writer who has a strong work ethic, high level of energy, and is not satisfied until you're satisfied with the final work product then Ms. Matthews is the writer to hire!"Tamiko S., Bowie, MD
