{"id":1938,"date":"2011-08-01T10:30:14","date_gmt":"2011-08-01T17:30:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.noomii.com\/?p=1938"},"modified":"2011-07-13T14:49:51","modified_gmt":"2011-07-13T21:49:51","slug":"start-coaching-with-the-wheel-of-life","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noomii.com\/blog\/?p=1938","title":{"rendered":"Start Coaching with the Wheel of Life"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the first things a Life Coach may do with a new client is introduce them to &#8216;The Wheel of Life&#8217;. \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8The Wheel provides a real-time snapshot of how satisfied you are with your life. Since an emotion like \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201csatisfaction\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d can ebb and flow, this exercise will help you see how satisfied you are right now (even though we know it might change tomorrow).<br \/>\nBefore we start, keep the following in mind:<\/p>\n<p>a). Think about how you feel right now &#8211; not yesterday, or last week<br \/>\nb). Be honest with yourself. Try to avoid answering how you wish it would be.<br \/>\nc). This is not a judgement on the success of your life. It\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s just the way it is. Instead of judging yourself, get curious about what you see on the wheel.<\/p>\n<p>So, are you ready? Let&#8217;s begin your own personal Wheel of Life&#8230;Below is how your Wheel should look when you begin. Notice all the different sections (Some Wheels are different and have other sections added as well, however, below is a fairly standard Wheel of Life).<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2629\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.noomii.com\/1938-start-coaching-with-the-wheel-of-life\/wheel2-2\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2629\" title=\"wheel2\" src=\"http:\/\/noomii-blog-files2.s3.amazonaws.com\/2011\/07\/wheel21.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"223\" height=\"226\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The eight sections in the Wheel represent the eight basic categories of your life: physical, career, fun and recreation, personal, money, health, significant other, friends, and family. \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8 To begin, look at each section and ask yourself, \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cHow satisfied am I with my life right now?\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d<\/p>\n<p>Rank your level of satisfaction for each area on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cnot satisfied\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d in the center of the circle, and 10 being \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201ctotally fulfilled\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d on the outside of the circle. \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8Draw a line across each section that reflects your level of satisfaction. Be honest. If your level of satisfaction is a 2, let it be a 2. No one is looking over your shoulder. The first step to creating the life you want is to be honest with yourself about the life you\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2ve got! It is perfectly normal to see big differences in the numbers from section to section.<br \/>\nOnce you have answered each section, draw a line connecting them all together. If this were the wheel of your life, how smooth or bumpy is your ride? Are there any major surprises or upsets? Does it feel like it is an accurate reflection of your level of satisfaction in your life? \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8If all the numbers are very Low (under 4), don\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2t panic. You are probably being overly hard on yourself. The good news is that now that you\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2ve taken notice, you can start the process of moving those numbers up right now. Below is a example of how your Wheel should look at the end of the process.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-2630\" href=\"http:\/\/blog.noomii.com\/1938-start-coaching-with-the-wheel-of-life\/wheel\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-2630\" title=\"wheel\" src=\"http:\/\/noomii-blog-files2.s3.amazonaws.com\/2011\/07\/wheel.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"253\" height=\"199\" \/><\/a><br \/>\nFor some of you, that\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s enough for today. Pat yourself on the back for your honesty, and go do something nice for yourself. The train of change has begun to roll forward, and you are on board. Relax, and settle in for the ride of your life.<\/p>\n<p>If you\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2re ready to delve a little deeper, read on (don\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2t worry\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u20ac\u009dyou\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2ll get to do something nice for yourself, too). Choose one of the sections of the Wheel you\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2d like to pay more attention to for the moment (you can come back to all of them, in time, if you wish). Do not feel that you must choose the lowest number &#8211; any section will do. \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8Now, ask yourself, \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cWhat would my life be like if this number were a 10?\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d Take your time with this.<br \/>\nGet a sense of how it feels and what might look different. How would a 10 in this area affect your mood on a daily basis? What impact might it have on your family, your work? Try to put yourself there, really embody your vision. \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8Then, once you have a strong sense of how that area of your life could be as a 10, ask yourself, \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cWhat would that be worth to me?\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d Maybe you\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2ll be ready to ask, \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c5\u201cWhat am I willing to do or give up to make that happen?\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u009d \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8Again, take some time with this.<\/p>\n<p>What other thoughts or questions come up for you? What are you noticing about how your body feels right now\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u20ac\u009danxious, relaxed, excited, at peace? \u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00c2\u00a8At the moment, try not to make any radical changes or major commitments. For now, it is enough to be aware of where you are in your life, and imagine how it could be different. Most of the work of coaching happens in between sessions. You are rolling forward on this train of change, so relax and enjoy the ride.<\/p>\n<p>Now, it\u00c3\u00a2\u00e2\u201a\u00ac\u00e2\u201e\u00a2s your turn to take a break and do something nice for yourself!<\/p>\n<p>&#8211; You might want to ask your family members to make their own Wheel of Life.
