{"id":2050,"date":"2011-04-27T11:52:18","date_gmt":"2011-04-27T18:52:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/blog.noomii.com\/?p=2050"},"modified":"2011-04-27T11:52:18","modified_gmt":"2011-04-27T18:52:18","slug":"does-your-life-feel-like-one-big-rut","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.noomii.com\/blog\/?p=2050","title":{"rendered":"Does your life feel like one big rut?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Are you tired or bored with your life as it currently is? Do you look at your day-to-day experiences and wonder how your life got to be this way? Where did your passion go? How did you end up here?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Good news &#8211; It&#8217;s not too late to change your life! All it takes is, 1- the &#8216;want to&#8217; ,followed by, 2- actions that will get you there.<\/strong> Sounds easy enough, right?<\/p>\n<p>If\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0you let yourself,\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0you can imagine the life you want. \u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0However,\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0often times our inner critic shouts all kinds of reasons why that life isn&#8217;t possible. You begin to believe that voice. How many times have you talked yourself out of going for your dream?<\/p>\n<p><strong>That inner critic is coming from a place of fear.<\/strong> You start thinking that instead of being happier, you&#8217;ll somehow end up hurting yourself or losing something of value\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0if you get what you want.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0The fear is also tied to feelings of not being good enough and\/or not deserving\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 happiness.<\/p>\n<p>The best way to get through your fear is to acknowledge it,\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0talk it out, put\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0all your fears on the table. Then you&#8217;ll be able to see if your mind has distorted things; you can also see your limiting beliefs. Limiting beliefs are statements\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0we\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0believe are true, when in reality, they&#8217;re not.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0<strong>Not challenging your limiting beliefs can be costly;<\/strong> it could cost you a less-than life (less than happy, less than\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0meaningful, and\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0less than exciting).<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s move on to the 2nd part of our equation &#8211; taking actions that align with your &#8216;want to&#8217;. So many people try taking actions that will get them their goal but they fail to take<strong> <\/strong>enough action.\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 Instead of getting out of their ruts, they just fall back into them.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve found that <strong>consistent action<\/strong> <strong>is key<\/strong> here. You must continue your actions even when it&#8217;s not comfortable or convenient, even when you&#8217;re tired,\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0even when you don&#8217;t feel like it.<\/p>\n<p>You must create and establish new patterns and routines. One way to do this is to set up\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0accountability for yourself; have\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0someone who will help you if\/when your actions don&#8217;t line up with your words.<\/p>\n<p>A coach can be that accountability person you need to be successful. Friends and family are often too close or they have a personal stake in the outcome, making it difficult for them\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0to be objective. A coach will also tell you\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0the truth,\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0 well-meaning friends might not. Additionally,\u00c3\u201a\u00c2\u00a0<strong>a coach will be there to encourage you to stay true to yourself, reminding you that ruts don&#8217;t bring happiness and fulfillment.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t settle for a life that bores you!
