About Me
Derek Sleater Cook is a consummate coach trainer who utilizes his contagious passion to energize his clientele and classrooms, regardless of the topic. Music is his favorite and likely most effective and popular way of uniquely engaging his clients and trainees.
Derek began his career at University of Utah Heath Care (UUHC) in 2001 and has been a Training and Development Specialist there since 2002.
Derek is a Certified UUHC Trainer. He is also certified in Total Quality Management (TQM) and UUHC Trainer Essentials. Derek is certified to train Crucial Conversations (VitalSmarts) and Influencer (VitalSmarts). Derek also facilitates an empowering, "Accountability" workshop and lives the concepts!
Derek has passed his written exam and is also nearing the completion of his coursework to become a Certified Professional Coach (CPC/Empowerment Life Coach) by the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC) in Los Angeles, California.
Derek’s career as a coach started in 1978 teaching Saddle Seat Equitation (English-style horseback riding) lessons-a sport in which he was named International Arabian Horse Association U.S. National Champion in 1980. Derek was the interim coach for the 1981 Canadian National Champion in the same category.
Derek has also taught the Korean language and culture, a variety of computer software programs, English as a Second Language (ESL) and children with learning disabilities and customer service.
Derek loves the Olympics and the Olympic Ideal and experienced Atlanta 1996 as a “participating spectator”, obtaining athlete autographs representing 125 of the 197 participating countries. He was also a guest writer and photographer for a local newspaper, The Loganville Journal.
