About Me:
An Interview with Coach Priscilla:
What made you become a Life Coach?
I’ve spent a lot of time struggling. I have struggled with my weight, with my self-confidence, with finances, and with relationships. I was a classic “workaholic” who felt that the only way to the top was to work my tush off. I had no life balance and was at my wits end. In 2007, when everything seemed to be falling apart, I got a newsletter from New England Coaching in my in box, and the more I read about life coaching, the more I understood I finally found the answer to the daily battle cry “There has GOT TO BE SOMETHING BETTER THAN THIS!”
Why did you choose the interview format to introduce yourself?
I first published my bio in a bullet-list format. After receiving several inquires asking if I was a hypno-therapist, I realized I was missing the mark of being motivational, and was putting my readers into a trance-like state.
What is your background in Life Coaching?
One of my hobbies is “self improvement.” I am constantly looking for ways to learn and grow. I have attended countless workshops, programs, and learning opportunities. I have successfully completed over 400 hours of coaching and coursework to attain my coaching certification through iPec, an International Coaching Federation accredited program. I have logged over 500 hours with my individual coaching clients, and I have led several workshops and seminars.
What makes you different from other Life Coaches?
I believe that the most important asset that sets me apart from many Life Coaches is my iPec certification. There are a lot of coaching programs and certification offerings out there, but I found that Ipec was the most thorough and hands on. I have been trained to coach through any life situation my clients may bring. I have been given countless tools and resources to utilize to help my clients in their journeys. But what really sets me apart is I really can relate with my clients. I understand what its like to try to juggle a career, deal with family issues, handle major life transitions, try to stay healthy, and still maintain some sort of sanity! (having a great sense of humor helps too!)
Why did you name your business “Open Door Life Coaching?”
“When a door opens, walk through it. Trust that the door has opened for a reason and you have been guided to it.” I read this quote during the darkest hour of my life… as I was packing my bags to leave a doomed marriage and move out on my own for the first time. I found it stashed in a drawer as I emptied the contents of my desk into a cardboard box marking the end of a ten year career as an Office Manager of a corporate company that fell victim to the economy. I remembered the quote when I walked into the classroom at New England Coaching, ready to embark on a new life and career. I recanted it to myself as I stood nervously at the door of a coffee shop…where the love of my life awaited for me to arrive for our first date. What doors in your life are waiting to be opened?
How would you describe your coaching style?
I try to adapt my “style” to the needs of my clients. Some clients need more visualization, some need more assignments, some need to talk things out more, and some want to get straight to the point. But what you can count on to be consistent is I am always supportive, empathetic, professional, and reliable. I make sure that each session is about you and only you. This is your life – so we stick to your agenda. I provide a safe, supportive and confidential place for you to talk about your desires. I believe that each one of my clients has the all the answers already inside them, and I will guide you through the process of gaining clarity and focus to attain anything you want.
What would you say to someone who is seeking balance in their lives?
I’d say “give me a call!” I would love to hear more about what “balance” means to you. What changes would you have to make in your life? What space do you need to clear? How can I help you take that first step? Call me today for a complimentary coaching session! Now that you know me a little better, I would love to get to know YOU!
Life Purpose:
To make the difference.
Interests:
What do you do for fun, when you’re not coaching?
When I’m not having FUN coaching, I spend my time with my sweetheart, and our two dogs. I enjoy camping, hiking, fishing, snowshoeing, and taking long walks in the Maine woods. My hobbies include fly-tying, writing, blogging, and while some people say I am crazy, I also love public speaking, performing stand-up comedy, and karaoke. (Although, while karaoke is fun for me, I can’t say the same for the people listening!)
