Working with Wendy helped me to have one of the biggest aha moments of my life!
For most of my adult life, I’ve observed the wonderful gifts that others have – playing music, public speaking, scientific study, etc. – and wondered what is mine? If only I could find my “special talent”, I thought, then my life would have meaning and be full of unending, blissful joy. But, the answer continued to elude me. I have many skills and attributes, but nothing exceptional ever stood out.
Then, as part of a coaching exercise that I had been working on, Wendy challenged me to define what my “amazing gifts to the world” were. To my surprise, I actually came up with an answer that seemed to resolve many of the conflicts I had been having around career choice. I truly understood for the first time that my spirit is my gift to the world. It doesn’t matter what I do for a living – teach, research, produce documentaries, or save the starving children in Africa - my gift of spirit can come through regardless.
Understanding this puts everything else in perspective. I’m no longer attached to the job itself, but rather to how I carry myself in the job, and whether or not the work has heart. If I’m no longer defining myself by my job, then I’m free to do whatever my heart leads me to do!
I’m eternally grateful to Wendy for helping me to reach this awareness! And, I always look forward to our weekly conversations when her insightful suggestions and practical strategies for success continue to move me along my life’s path.
When I lost my job I was devastated. I have a wife and two kids that depend on me. I tried everything to find a new position, but nothing was happening fast enough. I finally broke down and decided to find some help even though I really didn't want to spend the money at the time. It seemed like a lot. We brainstormed and she pointed me in the right direction forsome resources. I never considered teaching, but I love my new job and I can work from home two days per week. Now it doesn't seem overly expensive (sorry Wendy :-) but like you said, "doubting is a useful response when further investigation is needed.
What can I say? I just did not want to go to my 15 year class reunion overweight. After working with Wendy coaching me I realized my self esteem was so low I was just complaining about everything and not doing anything about it. I only had 12 weeks left to lose 20 pounds.
With Wendy as my personal cheerleader and coach, I lost 23 pounds. I changed my diet, got to the gym regularly and looked spectacular for my class reunion!
Thank you Wendy!
I have seen therapists before, but I always end up feeling worse afterwards dwelling on problems. A friend suggested life coaching, so I thought I would give it a try because I was really depressed about a relationship I was in that wasn't going where I wanted it to.
The first thing Wendy did was ask me what I wanted to get out of our session and how would I know if I got it?
I was shocked. I hadn't expected to define it. Honestly, now I realize what I really wanted was to get my self respect back. I'm not settling next time!
I hated my job, but I didn't want to lose my seniority and great benefits. With Wendy's help I was able to see how I could create a new position for myself and convince the HR director to go for it!
Now I love my job and I even make a little more money!
Woohoo! I got a job! Thanks Wendy
