What do you want to achieve in the next year by hiring a coach?
Identify a viable career path forward that will achieve the goals I desire. I have several options available. My current position would allow me to move up in time, or to move to another company with some moderate effort. Or, I could continue my education (in more than one direction) to change the career path I am on.
Tell us about yourself.
I am a chronic underachiever. Always told I was gifted, and I did come to believe it. Unfortunately, raw smarts without proper effort and direction can only get you so far. For the past year-two years I have been in the same position (with moderate improvements in Salary) and feel that I am worth more to my company. I have not applied to more than three other positions in the past three years with the company. I have been studying for the LSAT and am prepared to take my first exam, however, I have a hesitation that I would be pursuing a career in law out of a sense of insecurity in my current job position (mainly the low salary compared to my college friends). In short, my path forward could take a few routes: Stay in my current field (environmental science) and either switch companies now or stay and wait two more years for next major promotion within the company; take the LSAT in two months (will happen regardless), perhaps take again depending on the score and apply to Law School with the intent to start in Spring/Fall 2022; Switch roles entirely and attend a coding Bootcamp course (recommended by several college friends who, also unsatisfied with their career prospects, attended and are currently gainfully employed in the software field), with the goal of learning to become a software developer. I am fully confident that I would be able to learn the required material and attend the required courses/schooling to gain what is needed to change career paths at this time. Ideally, I would continue to work part-time in my position if the time requirements of the additional education are not too demanding.
