What do you want to achieve in the next year by hiring a coach?
I am 46 years old and have not had luck applying to jobs on my own. My ideal job is very specific; I am looking for a job with an American company in Buenos Aires, Argentina. I say an American company because I need to be paid in American dollars and also because my Spanish is good, but not good enough to take on a role that requires near native Spanish fluency.
In terms of what type of job I would like to do, I would love to work in either a U.S. government role (requires specific resume and application process) or a role in Latin American affairs/relations or with the Argentine location of an American company. The perfect job would have good benefits, offer relocation assistance, offer work sponsorship, and be an office job (I have trouble standing, heavy lifting and walking for extended periods of time).
I know I am asking a lot, but the ideal career coach would ideally have experience in identifying prospective job positions, help me with tailoring a resume, and assist me in applying and then helping me with interview practice.
About me: I hold a Master of Arts in Latin American and Caribbean studies from New York University and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Spelman College. I studied abroad in Argentina and studied at the University of Buenos Aires. I was an intern at the U.S. Embassy in Brasilia, Brazil at the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) and the General Services Administration (GSA).
I was Class President at Spelman College my sophomore year. I have also spent three years teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Career highlights include being a Site Director for an after-school program in Harlem, NY, teaching ESL in Atlanta, GA and serving as a Director at Turner Surgical clinic (an administrative role).
I look forward to being matched with a no nonsense career coach that will give me truthful input and hold me accountable. I also appreciate constructive criticism, encouragement and helpful expertise. My budget is tight, so the right coach would also be able to offer consultations that are budget friendly (the right coach should be worth the $).
Thanks so much for reading all of this and I look forward to working with a coach that can help me navigate the job search jungle!
Tell us about yourself.
I am currently unemployed/barely employed and looking to relocate to Buenos Aires, Argentina. I was born and raised and live in Atlanta, GA. I am frustrated by job searching. I need a job, and want to work in either a government position or other position that allows for creativity…perhaps a non-traditional role with an entertainment company, an NGO or Argentine site for an American company. I am very open to suggestions. Personally, I am creative, responsible and speak Spanish well (but am no longer fluent since I seldom practice it), and I also speak Brazilian Portuguese at an intermediate level.
