What do you want to achieve in the next year by hiring a coach?
Over the next year, I want to make a successful transition out of operations and into a more strategic, forward-facing role—ideally in international business development, market strategy, or global expansion. I’m looking for a coach to help me clarify the best path forward, identify roles that align with my interests and strengths, and create a step-by-step plan to get there. I also want guidance on how to reframe my current experience so it resonates with hiring managers in my target field, and support in building a strong narrative for job applications, networking, and possibly MBA prep. My goal is to feel confident, focused, and intentional about the direction I’m heading by this time next year.
Tell us about yourself.
Hi, I’m David. I’ve spent the last five years working in operations roles across three financial institutions, including my current position at an asset management firm where I support the trading desk. My experience has been solid—I’ve developed strong technical and analytical skills, and I’ve worked in both back and middle office functions. But at this point, the work has started to feel repetitive and a bit clerical, and I don’t feel challenged or excited by what I’m doing. I’m 27 now and really trying to be intentional about my next move. I studied international business, and I’ve realized that I’m much more energized by areas like global strategy, business development, and market expansion. I want to transition into roles that allow me to think more broadly, contribute to growth initiatives, and work across markets and cultures. I’m hoping to figure out how to reposition my background and build a path into those types of roles.
