What do you want to achieve in the next year by hiring a coach?
I want to be working remotely on my video game startup, launching successful projects and moving to Portland, or Eugene, Oregon.
Tell us about yourself.
I am a soon to be 32 year old single man who has worked in software development in the past seven years. Originally, a business graduate in college, I never really wanted to do sales, but was not necessarily confident in my math abilities to enter computer science due to learning disabilities with ADHD and symptoms of dyslexia. So I went and entered software development anyways after business school in hopes that I could make video games for a career. With rising living costs everywhere, It was a struggle to save up enough money to move out of my parents' house by 29, though I ended up losing most of that money after being laid off from a company due to financial restructuring and essentially taking an unplanned sabbatical for about a year, living with a friend and applying for jobs the whole time. Out of desperation, I moved up to Kansas City to try something completely new and within 4 months I found another software development job at an electric company. While working with this company has been very good in terms of friendly staff, it has not been good for my work life balance, my sleep, and outside ambitions and finding a work from home position and moving to Oregon, where I've always wanted to live. I have not been able to save very much money due to increasing living costs but have been saving where I can. I cannot afford to move back in with my parents because of an unhealthy living situation with them and I am not sure what to do from here. I'm not progressing my career looking at this current job either and may need to find something better in the interim, so I've been applying for position since then. Ironically, the most cost-effective option I can think of right now is to break my lease and go move into a friend's house in Oklahoma completely for free (of which I can explain in greater detail why should we work together as coach and student), though that would not be an ideal situation either because it is in a town in Oklahoma that is very far from everything and I wouldn't have a job at that point. I would, however, have enough time to grow my game business online and my savings would travel farther. A little bit about me is that I'm very used to not getting my way with most things in life, so I tend to be rather timid about my true intentions and I keep finding myself in situations where I have to hide parts of myself in order to please others and simply survive in whatever current situation I'm in. I'm a bit more sensitive in character than I would prefer to be because of things like ADHD, but with age has come experience and at least some aid in helping that. My parents don't think I'm a failure because I graduated college and have been able to keep a job, but I can't help but see myself as one because life just hasn't remotely looked like anything I actually put in work towards. I will agree with many in that success often takes mindset changes but I need help in facilitating those changes and taking the right steps forward.
