What do you want to achieve in the next year by hiring a coach?
In the next year, I want to make a clear pivot out of finance operations into a strategy, marketing, or consulting role—ideally at companies or industries that are younger, queer-friendly, and have an inclusive culture. I’m looking for guidance to help me clarify which paths have strong earning potential and feel authentic to me, and to build a plan for rebranding my experience, upskilling where needed, and networking in those communities. I also want to gain the confidence and clarity to present myself well in applications and interviews so I can successfully land the right role.
Tell us about yourself.
Over the past five years, I’ve worked in operations roles at three financial institutions, currently supporting the trading desk at an asset management firm. Through these roles, I’ve built strong technical and analytical skills and gained experience across back and middle office functions. However, the work has become repetitive and clerical, and I’m no longer challenged or excited by it. At 27, I’m intentional about my next career move. With a background in international business, I’m energized by areas like global strategy, market expansion, and business development. I want to transition into roles that allow me to think more broadly, contribute to growth initiatives, and work across markets and cultures. My goal is to reposition my experience and build a clear path into these types of strategic roles. Over the next year, I aim to move from operations into a more forward-facing, strategic position—ideally in international business development, market strategy, or global expansion. I’m seeking a coach to help me clarify the best path, identify roles aligned with my strengths, and create a step-by-step plan to achieve this transition. I also want guidance on reframing my current experience to resonate with hiring managers and support in crafting a compelling narrative for applications, networking, and possibly MBA preparation. By this time next year, I want to feel confident, focused, and intentional about my career direction.
