About Me

I am passionate about helping people lead through excellent communication. I hold a PhD from Vanderbilt University focused on developing organizational culture through communication, and I've put that into practice over 14 years in executive-level leadership in the nonprofit sector, with 6 years spent as Executive Director. In that time, I've led through language--advancing organizational goals, fostering inclusive culture, and equipping people to be effective members of the community.

I know first-hand that effective, inspiring communication is the single most powerful tool a leader can have. By developing your communication skills, you can align your team around a common vision, manage conflict, and build trusting relationships.

I've coached students and professional candidates in public speaking, guided couples to be more effective in their interpersonal communication, and counseled individuals through major life changes. And I've done those things while directing the complete strategic orientation and managing the daily administration of the organizations I've served. I understand the pressures of leadership and the tendency for thoughtful communication to be pushed to the back burner.
