About Me

I have enjoyed a challenging and varied career, first in research science, next in communications, then as executive director of a non-profit supporting Canada's performing and visual artists.

In addition, I have raised 5 amazing young adults, met significant health challenges, nurtured a strong marriage and survived serial entrepreneurship.

More than two years ago I responded to a transit ad for the local Distress Centre and became a crisis specialist (little did I know that less than 20% of applicants are accepted) volunteering almost weekly on the phone lines for four hours at a time. I am also a member of the board.

The Distress Centre training reinforced in me qualities that I already possessed – calmness, non-judgmental, accepting and expanded on others listening, empathy, truth-telling, patience. It pointed the way to becoming a certified Life Coach. This process was enlightening, challenging and soul-searching. It strengthened all of the learning from the Distress Centre and added new levels of listening, perspective, accountability and responsibility. And, so important, confidentiality. I became a coach to facilitate growth in others – to unleash potential and develop resourcefulness – to provide support in a safe, non-judgmental environment based on mutual respect, truth-telling and accountability.

My ideal clients are eager to engage, to move forward and take control of their situation.
