About Me
Conflicts are a part of life, but that doesn't make them any easier to face. I know this firsthand, because I struggled with conflict for a big part of my life—until I discovered Nonviolent Communication (NVC).
When I began working as a project manager, I knew that anger wasn’t considered acceptable in the workplace. Yet, managing conflict was central to my role. I spent a lot of energy repressing my emotions, not knowing how to express them appropriately. All I wanted was to share my concerns in a positive way, so we could actually solve the problems we were facing.
The same was true in my personal life: I held back from speaking from the heart for fear of hurting my friends. It felt inauthentic, and those unspoken emotions would eventually build up inside me. Then, at some point, I’d end up expressing myself too directly—and I lost some friendships because I didn’t know how to speak peacefully.
That all changed when I started integrating Nonviolent Communication into my daily life. Now, when something happens, I’m able to catch the subtle signals that something's off and choose how I want to respond. Well… most of the time. ;)
It took a lot of practice and a few years to get to where I am today.
Now, I support others who struggle with strong emotions to find clarity and change the conversations.
To do this work, I trained as a coach at Rhodes Wellness College in Vancouver (an ICF-certified program). I also trained as a conflict resolution coach and mediator with John Kinyon, who worked closely with Marshall Rosenberg, the founder of NVC.
I can now say, “I love conflicts.” Not starting them, of course! I love conflicts because I see how they can be transformed into new conversations—ones that foster growth and even strengthen relationships.
If that’s something you’d like to experience, let’s talk!
I offer a sliding scale in a perspective of inclusion.
