Problem solving? How do I do that?
Looks at problem solving and non emotional ways to resolve them, so logical brain storming techniques
“No matter what our qualifications or life experience, no one actually teaches us how to think!”. Dr Edward De Bono. That is a very profound statement and in many cases is actually true. So what is flawed with how we problem solve?
-We focus on the problem not the solutions.
-We get emotional and lose the ability to think in the process.
-We don’t seek out answers and dwell on the consequences of what may happen if we don’t solve the problem or problems.
How can we solve the problem/s in a better way?
-Focus on the solution and how we arrived there, what are our options?
-Not get emotional but purely logical, look at it as if it is not you we are have been asked to solve this as a problem for someone else?
Here is an example.
I need $1 million dollars to start up a new company.
Okay, we have the million dollars where could we get it from?
Could we get a loan from a bank?
Could we start smaller and self-fund so that we don’t actually need $1 million dollars to get started?,
Could we get funding from private equity, individuals or firms?
Could we get funded by a Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign or similar?.
Could we get funding from share holders?.
Could we get funding from friends, relatives like rich uncle Joe?
The next stage is to drill down even further into each option and look for options on how we can do each of those options.
I think you get the point, yeah?. Why not try some out on some real world problems that you have right now.
