Differences Between "Cause" and "Effect" People

Posted on September 04, 2011 by Kevin Alston, One of Thousands of Life Coaches on Noomii.

Are you a "Cause" or "Effect" kind of person?

“Cause” people believe that they create their lives. “Effect” people believe that life just happens to them. What side of the “Cause and Effect” equation are you on? Do you believe that you create your destiny and that you are in control of your life or do you believe that your destiny is controlled by others and what happens to you is because of what someone else is doing or has done?

“Cause” people invest the majority of their time and energy accepting what happens, looking at the situation, learning from it and making different and better decisions the next time. “Effect” people invest the majority of their time and energy complaining about what is going on in their lives and blaming everything and everyone else for their problems instead of learning the valuable lessons and making better decisions. Here’s an exercise that will help.

The Exercise:++

For the next 7 days, do your best not to complain about anything; not even within your thoughts. The moment you begin to complain verbally or mentally, gently remind yourself that you are not to complain and change your thoughts. Also during these 7 days, at the end of each day, write down one thing that went well during that day and one thing that didn’t go well. Then write down the answer to, “How did I create these situations?”

It’s critically important that you perform this exercise because it will help keep you accountable for your life. “What you hear, you forget; What you see, you remember; What you do; you understand”
