This could be the end of our civilization.......But your life is waiting
So it’s the New Year – 2012, and everyone – well, a lot of people, have been in a dither about their New Year’s resolution. It seems to be the time to turn over a brand new leaf. To be daring. To do something that’s new and exciting, or simply to get done the stuff that’s been piling up in a corner, awaiting your attention. Excuses abound, but it’s the intention, and the forward motion that gives it traction.
Sounds familiar? Perhaps it is a trap you’ve been ensnared in yourself. But why sweat the little stuff! Just get off your duff, decide what needs to be done. What you’ve chosen to do, and get to it!
Having a long list of goals is perfectly fine. But if all you do with your goals is write them down (that’s a great start), and leave them enveloped in the pages of a journal to gather dust, not much will become of them. They will remain the dreams you wished you had-a……..Woulda…….coulda……. shoulda.
None of this is to make you wrong. It’s to simplify what you do. If you are not in the habit of doing goals. That’s ok. Now you’ve chosen to create a new habit. Take one of your goals, something very simple. Do that thing for three days. Nothing magical about three. It simply means that for three days you can maintain your intention. You can get in motion, flex those muscles, take a deep breath, do something. Do the thing that you have avoided, but only a little at a time. There is method to the madness of tiny steps. It gives you courage to take another step, and another, and another. You can be pleased with yourself for having stayed the course for three days. You can congratulate yourself, and you can start the process all over again. Just three days at a time. If you continue to do three days at a time, by the end of January, you will have done a whole series of three days.
Shift happens! In as little as three days at a time. Have some fun. This is your life!
