How I Overcame My "Incurable" Disease

I overcame my "incurable" disease by addressing the root causes and embracing holistic approaches to healing.
When I was in my early twenties, I began experiencing unusual symptoms that changed the course of my health journey. I had always been athletic, but I rarely ever broke a sweat. Then one day, while sitting in a my car with the air conditioning blasting, I suddenly started sweating. Something felt off, and deep down I knew it was connected to my thyroid.
After visiting an endocrinologist, my suspicions were confirmed: I had thyroid disease. Like my mother and father before me, I was now facing what doctors often label as an “incurable” condition. I was prescribed medication, but no matter how carefully I monitored my thyroid panels every few months, my levels never stayed balanced. Despite this, I never lost hope that one day I could restore my thyroid naturally and live without medication.
Discovering a Different Path
Years into my struggle, I came across a YouTube clip that introduced me to natural medicine and healing. I seeked a holistic practitioner where they performed comprehensive responsive testing—evaluating my body from head to toe to identify deeper issues that might be contributing to my thyroid dysfunction. I quickly learned that my thyroid wasn’t the root problem at all—it was secondary to other imbalances in my body.
The testing revealed adrenal issues, low cortisol levels, and signs of toxicity that needed to be addressed first. My treatment began with regenerating my adrenal glands, a process that took about a year. Once my adrenals recovered, we shifted focus back to my thyroid. Over the next two years, I worked closely with the practitioners, monitoring my progress and gradually lowering my medication until I no longer needed it. Today, I have been off thyroid medication for more than eight years.
Lessons From Research and Curiosity
My love for research came early. My father, a science teacher, encouraged me to dig into encyclopedias whenever I asked questions. That habit carried into adulthood, where I often turned to books and studies to better understand health and disease.
One book that impacted me deeply was the Origin of Therapeutics, which explored the origins of medicine. I learned about how natural substances once played a larger role in healing. For example, studies showed that certain foods like raw cabbage (a goitrogen) could disrupt thyroid function in animals. I also discovered that before synthetic treatments were introduced, patients were sometimes given natural thyroid hormones derived from animals. These natural options often carried fewer side effects than synthetic medications, but unfortunately, they are rarely discussed in medical schools today.
A Message of Hope
My journey taught me that healing isn’t always straightforward, but it is possible—even when conventional medicine calls a disease “incurable.” By addressing the root causes, being consistent with follow-ups, and staying committed to learning, I was able to restore balance to my body and reclaim my health; and this is how I overcame my “incurable” disease.
For anyone struggling with thyroid disease or any other condition, know this: your thyroid(or condition) may not be the problem itself but a symptom pointing to deeper imbalances. With persistence, proper support, and a willingness to explore beyond the standard options, you can open the door to new possibilities for healing.
