Step Away From Your Comfort Zone!

Get unstuck. Growth can only happen outside of the rut.
I don’t know about you; but for me there is something so, well, comfortable about snuggling up inside my comfort zone and staying there indefinitely. In fact, many people choose to stay there forever. But sometimes our comfort zones evolve into something unhealthy and can cause toxic stagnation. Or our comfort zones can plant us firmly in an oh-so-comfortable “rut,” precluding opportunities for growth and disallowing us to become who we were really intended to be. Sure, comfort may feel good, and change can be hard. But if we are to grow and make a difference in this world, then change and forward movement (yes, outside our comfort zones) is an important part of life. Inside our comfort zones = safety, no risk, no growth. Outside our comfort zones = where the magic happens!
If you know me personally, you know that I have never been as far away from my comfort zone as I have been in the past few years. Life threw some curve balls, and I had to choose between staying in my comfort zone – or moving far outside my comfort zone in order to listen to my heart and honor my values. So after 28 years in Dallas, here I am in Southern California – not yet my comfort zone, but now my home. Far removed from all that was “normal” and comfortable in my world – yet I KNOW that this is exactly where I’m supposed to be. And I believe that stepping away from my comfort zone is what is now creating unique opportunities to step into the “magic”! Has it been easy? Not at all. But has it been worth it? Absolutely!
