Don't wait until you reach your goal to be happy - choose to be fulfilled now!

Posted on December 11, 2013 by Valerie Dorn CPC, One of Thousands of Life Coaches on Noomii.

The key to success and fulfillment is to feel content with where you are now, in the present moment, while you continue to move toward your goals.

“Each moment describes who you are, and gives you the opportunity to decide if that’s who you want to be.” – iPEC Core Principle

Do you believe that life will somehow be different once you have crossed everything off your to-do list and achieved all of your goals? If so, you are tricking yourself into believing one of the biggest myths that young professionals buy into: that there is an end in sight that you must always work toward, because that is where real life happens. That is where you will feel like you have achieved something. That is where you will matter.

Now don’t get me wrong – goals are important. Goals like finishing school, getting married, having children,or earning a Ph.D. keep you motivated to achieve your potential, serve as a guide for your decision-making and ensure that you achieve all that you want for your life. But, they are not the whole story. The truth is, there is no “end” when it comes to life and no amount of accomplishments can fulfill you.

Life is a journey, a becoming, a growing and a process. The key to success is to live in that journey, in the present moment. You must learn that success is not achieved by earning your Ph.D., but in realizing that how you behave, adapt and grow throughout the entire process is the true triumph.

So the next time you are setting goals and reworking your five-year plan, remember this: the most enlightened goal is the ability to enjoy the process of life.
