Moments in Time: how do you view “time”?

Posted on July 02, 2014 by Lisa Face, One of Thousands of Executive Coaches on Noomii.

How do you view TIME? Are you a time waster?

In December 2013 , I watched Moments of Time which challenged my attitude to “time”. This excellent BBC programme reviewed the major stories of 2013 through incredible, thought provoking professional and smart phone images.

Moments of Time made me ask myself these questions: if I viewed TIME as a precious resource in the same way I value my family, my finances, my faith, my skills, my gifts, what difference might that have on how I use my time, how I reference time, how I plan and manage each day? How might I do things differently in the coming week? What or who would I stop fearing?

After all, God has decreed I have the same amount of time as everyone else: 7 days a week, 365 days a year What will I do differently this year compared to 2013? I’m planning on not complaining that I have little or no time as a starter, and try to live in the present and enjoy the many blessings I have in the here and now.

I’m not a great believer in resolutions preferring to look to the future with new hope and energy. There is value in reflection and pondering especially if it leads to wise decision making and action – two things I’m always telling my wonderful clients to keep in mind! This quote seems to sum it up quite nicely:

“Just because we increase the speed of information doesn’t mean we can increase the speed of decisions. Pondering, reflecting and ruminating are undervalued skills in our culture.” Dale Dauten

How will YOU use your time more wisely for the rest of 2014? How will you ponder and reflect and ruminate?
