So proud of you
Slipping between the slats in the fence
Stepping out of the box of ordinary
The “we always do it this way”.
You said yes.
Now you know what’s on the other side
It’s a joy-light radiance that few ever see
It’s there for everyone
Blocked by the shadow of forgetting.
But you, you!
You never lost that look in your eye
the pull of the heart to really live
to experience the joy of an unspeakable moment.
Don’t be surprised how you glow in the dark
This happiness hangover radiating from you
A perfume that few wear.
You never forget that scent.
And don’t be surprised
That there are those that will hate you for it.
You simply remind them of when they themselves
Found the gap,
The invitation, but said no
I’m scared
What will my mother think
I have kids
I have to work
It’s not proper
Our family doesn’t do things like that.
The shine can fade
Worn down by dust and drama
Taxes and death.
It must be renewed often
with fierce love and deep intention.
The glow may dim
But the spark never goes out.
And how do I know?
Because once the spark is small
I let the rules get in the way.
I found my light again.
Don’t let yours dim.
But you won’t.
Don’t do it,
Don’t give up the light.
Blow baby, blow
And shine, shine, shine.
So proud of you.
