You Can Embrace a New Path and Take It

You can do it. You can embrace a new path and take it.

Can I? Am I motivated? Am I inspired? Do I have what it takes?

Maybe I’ve been brainwashed like everyone else that it can’t be done and the only thing left to do is just do what I do and let someone else change the world.

I was working in the back yard over the weekend. I had just finished mowing the yard and put the tractor away in the shed. As I was standing on the grass, I felt something on my foot. Not looking down I thought it was just a blade of grass or a stick on my foot. I stamped my foot while still not looking. Still there. Stamped again. Still there.

I Was Instantly Motivated

Looking down I saw a huge wasp on my foot. This was not just a wasp, it was a Texas sized wasp and we grow ‘em big down here. It was like a bolt of lightning hit me and I was motivated to get that thing off me. That dang wasp was locked on my shoe and wouldn’t come off.

Well I finally got it off me and I must have looked liked some strange fire dancer. I hate wasps!

I’ve Settled For Less

The wasp didn’t sting me but I WAS stung with the reality that I’ve allowed myself to be brainwashed into believing that I can be comfortable in the box I’m living in.

I need to change that thinking. I need to embrace a new path of harnessing the same motivation I had of getting that wasp off my shoe and apply it to everything I do.

You Can Change Everything

In the book Linchpin, written by Seth Godin, he address this concept that you can change everything. If you choose to.

People have been brainwashing you into settling for a long time. It’s easy to view your current situation as a box, a set of boundaries from which there is no escape. Of course you need to keep living your life the way you’ve been living it, because to do anything but that is too scary, too risky, too bold. Especially given your health, your family, the economy, your age, the neighborhood, your organization, your education, and your dreams. Everyone feels the same way.

And yet.

And yet every day a few people change everything. You can do it. You can embrace a new path and take it. Don’t settle. You’re a genius and we need your contribution.

Do the work. Please.
