The fear of change
I often hear people say, “What IF” when discussing changes they would like to make in their lives. One young woman asked" if i pursue a degree in dermatology instead of business,What If i cant keep my GPA up in order to be accepted into med school?" Another young woman struggling with the decision to leave an abusive relationship asked," What If I leave my husband and I cant make it on my own?" A young man suffering with obesity asked" What if I try to eat a healthy diet and I fail at losing weight"? While “What if” can have positive answers, the majority make the statement “What If” with negative predictions supporting it.“What If” in its negative form is created from FEAR!!! Fear is the root that will keep many from changing circumstances simply by thinking on the negative results of the “What If” Question;negative results that we have created in our own thinking based on the fear we suffer in regards to taking the steps needed to change our circumstance.Fear causes many to remain stagnant.Fear causes many to look at the possibility of change and start doubting positive outcomes by feeding the negativity of fear through our “What If” predictions. Any change in life requires that leap of faith. It requires stepping out into unknown territory and taking a risk that if we step out beyond what we used to we will actually succeed at being better than we are right now. So how do you overcome, better yet, Conquer fear and turn your thinking around to predict positive What If’s? Change your thinking. Retrain your mind to answer your “What If” with a positive answer. "What if I ace my grades and get into med school? What if I leave my abusive husband and step by step rebuild my life free of abuse? What If I stick to eating healthy and lose weight? How will I feel about myself? WHAT IF I PUSH THROUGH MY FEAR AND CHANGE MY CIRCUMSTANCES? Do you see the amazing posibilities???
