Answered Prayer

Do you often feel as if your prayers are getting no further than the ceiling? Are you frustrated wondering if God has put you on “hold”? I think this has happened to all of us at one time or another. The Bible holds some interesting clues as to why our prayers are not being answered and one of those clues is in this passage:

“You ask God and yet fail to receive, because you ask with wrong purpose and evil, selfish motives. Your intention is [when you get what you desire] to spend it in sensual pleasures”. – James 4:3 Amplified

When we are not asking with right motives, God will not honor our prayers. He sees the intents of the heart and in order to protect you from yourself, He will not honor your requests. We must understand that God sees the beginning, the end, and everything in between. He will not be a participant in any kind of evil.

How Do We Pray?

The answer to this can be quite detailed, but the most important way that we can pray and see our prayers come to fruition is to pray in faith, with right motives, in line with the Word of God. We pray the Word…which means that we pray God’s Word back to Him.

“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12

When we speak the Word of God in prayer back to Him, we are praying in agreement with what He has already spoken, thereby releasing His power into our lives. Without this power our prayers are empty.

Find out what the scripture say about a particular situation that needs your prayers and then pray the scriptures. If you need healing, the Word says in 1 Peter 2:24 that Christ provided healing at the cross. Based on that knowledge, you can thank God that you have already received your healing and stand on this Word with your confession of faith until you see the manifestation take place.

I encourage you today to buy a promise book of scriptures at your local bookstore and begin to pray the everlasting Word of God so that you can begin to see many victories in your life and in the lives of those who are asking for your prayers…
