How to Create Impactful Change in Your Life

Posted on December 11, 2019 by Michael and Jillian Leonard, One of Thousands of Business Coaches on Noomii.

When it comes to growth, it is measured in time and change. Learn how to create lasting impactful change in your life and lead you to fulfillment.

Take a moment and take stock in your life up to this point. Ask yourself, “Am I happy with where my life is up to this point?” “Am I happy with the person that I’ve become?” “Am I excelling in every area of my life?” These can be tough questions to ask ourselves, because they require a complete and honest assessment, which can be very hard for us to do. I know that when I finally did this exercise, the answers I found were ones that I did not like. So what to do when we realize we’re not where we thought we would be in certain areas of our life? Well we have two choices: we decide that it is easier not to change, but rather to remain the same, or we can choose to draw a line in the sand, get to work, and creating the changes to propel our lives forward.

One major question I had when I came to this realization was where do I start? I had all of these big changes I wanted to make, but it looked like an insurmountable mountain to climb. It was then that I received some really great advice from a friend. He said, “Don’t look at the top of the mountain, just at your next step.” What he meant was to make small changes to my life, over time, that moved me closer and closer to the top of my mountain.

So I’ll ask you the same question . . . what are some small changes you can make in your everyday life, that will tip the needle in the direction you want it to go? If you know exactly what to do, or you already have an idea, then great! However, if you’re wondering just where to start, we will talk about a couple of ways to get started on your path towards living that impactful life you’re looking for.

The number one thing you can do is to figure out your why. Why it is that you do the things that you do everything? Another way of looking at it can be what you believe to be your purpose in this life. When we are not living a purposeful life, we can feel empty and unfulfilled inside, which leads us to a feeling of longing and wanting more. So really think hard about this, because as the saying goes, “You can’t know which path to take if you’re not sure of your destination.”

After you come to understand what your purpose and your why are, you can begin to design your life around that. You have the blueprint, now it is time to take that and build that life of impact. The foundation is the first thing you create when building a house, so what should your foundation be? Well two things I can think of that are great foundational building blocks are your values and your habits. Values being what are your non-negotiable’s in life, and your habits being what you do on a consistent basis. If these map back to your blueprint, then there is a great chance that your house will be built on a solid foundation, and your blueprint will end up being your ultimate roadmap for success.

From there, you begin to implement those small changes, everyday, to get you closer to where you want to go. This will look different for everyone, because everyone has different values and purposes, but that is what is so great about this world that we live in, it is that we are all uniquely made and gifted to accomplish different things. Just remember that it is about progress, not perfection. So if you slip up, make a mistake, etc. don’t beat yourself up. Use it as a learning opportunity to get better. The goal isn’t to alleviate mistakes, but rather to move forward, little by little, until you reach the top of your mountain, whatever that means to you.
