Discover how conscious breathing can reduce stress, sharpen your mind, help setting clear boundaries, and build resilience—starting now, in daily life
Many people only notice their breath when it’s out of rhythm: in moments of stress, nervousness, or exhaustion. Yet our breath is one of our most powerful tools for self-regulation—always available, easily accessible, and immediately effective.
In my coaching work, the topic of breathing surfaces again and again: with clients facing career changes, those with high self-imposed standards, symptoms of exhaustion, or inner restlessness. Most people breathe too shallowly, too quickly, or are hardly aware of their breath. And this is exactly where change can begin.
Personally, I found a deep connection to breathing as mental training through freediving—diving on breath-hold. In freediving, everything depends on the breath, as well as mental and physical relaxation: safety, focus, inner peace, and the ability to stay present in the moment. Underwater, you can’t control your body’s reactions by sheer will; it requires calmness, conscious breath control, and deep self-trust. These are the very qualities that matter most in everyday life.
While I don’t teach specific breathing techniques in my coaching, I do incorporate insights from disciplines like yoga, breathwork, and freediving—for example, through mindfulness, present-moment awareness, self-perception, and mental clarity. Simply pausing for a conscious inhale and exhale can open up a new perspective in conversation. Many clients find that greater breath awareness in daily life helps them set boundaries, communicate more clearly, and handle pressure with more composure.
If you often feel on autopilot or find it hard to switch off, becoming more aware of your breath can make a difference. Coaching can support you in reconnecting with your breath and cultivating more inner calm and focus in your everyday life.
