Myth #1: I Thought Rest Was Lazy
Posted on August 02, 2025 by Enza Richards, One of Thousands of Life Coaches on Noomii.
Rest is not a reward. It’s a requirement.
Well… maybe I didn’t admit it out loud, but I sure acted like I believed it.
“I just have to finish this one last thing, then I can go to bed.”
“I’ll rest on the train—four hours of sleep is fine.”
“My boss needs that email tonight.”
I used to treat rest like a luxury I had to earn through exhaustion.
Worse—I wore my fatigue like a badge of honor.
But here’s the truth I’ve come to learn (the hard way):
Rest is not a reward. It’s a requirement.
It’s not a sign of laziness. It’s a sign of sustainability—and leadership.
When we get proper rest:
- We make better decisions
- Communicate more clearly
- Solve problems faster and with more precision
- Lead with more calm and clarity
Rest isn’t a retreat from life—it’s how we enrich it. It enables us to become fully present.
What would change if you saw rest as a strength? When was the last time you rested before you were completely depleted?
