Be Deliberate

We have the expertise, we are truthful to our values and despite that we very often feel that we are trapped, fixed. What is missing?
In my past 2 articles I spoke about Expertise and Values.
They are 2 powerful components that strengthen us in our pursuit to reach the desired Destination. They guide us in our career path, our entrepreneurship voyage and our business ventures.
However, Expertise and Values do not present themselves to us on a silver plate.
They do not knock on our door and ask to be part of our life.
We have to search for them, find them, acquire them, develop them, spend time with them and make them our best friends. To do that we need to be deliberate in taking action.
Being deliberate makes me think of the car example.
To start the car, we need to insert the key into the ignition, turn the key and start the ignition or push on a button to start the ignition. In both cases, we need to deliberately do something to start the car. If we do not do that, the car will not start and as a result it will not take us to where we want to go.
In our career and entrepreneurship voyage – the same applies. When we aspire for a different job, a different career path, a different business, or when we have leadership challenges – We need to be deliberate in taking action and making the necessary transformations.
For some of us, being deliberate is innate, is a born skill.
For others, we may need to make an extra effort to remind ourselves to be deliberate. I see it like a math equation:
- Deliberate – it surfaces quickly and starts working
- Deliberate ² – needs to double the efforts and it will eventually start working.
- √Deliberate – There is resistance. Let us find out what the factors are.
Let us put the effort to be deliberate to make the changes that we need and start the car.
In doing so, always be deliberately kind to yourselves and to the people around you.
Stretch yourselves and cultivate a deliberate beginner’s mind that opens the world of opportunities to you.
