How to Prepare for Your Noomii Profile Review & Audio Interview
4 Comments

Posted on August 20, 2012 by Stephan Wiedner

We’re so glad you signed up for a 30-minute profile review and audio interview with one of our coaching experts, an additional service offered to our coaches who upgrade to one of our paid packages. This call alone is as valuable as a one-year subscription to Noomii but we’re committed to spreading coaching and seeing you succeed so we offer it to you for no extra charge.

Be Prepared: Please read this document in full prior to your scheduled call. You’ll get more value from the call that way.

Can’t make it? If you need to cancel or change your scheduled appointment, you can easily do so through our online calendar. Please click on the link that you would have received via email confirming your appointment or in the calendar event that was added to your calendar.

At the appointment time, we will call you on the number you provided when you scheduled your appointment. If you use Skype, we will ask to move the conversation to Skype to get a better sound quality.

Understand your value proposition

Too many coaches fall into the trap of trying to appeal to as broad an audience as possible but the result is that they don’t appeal to anybody. Before you can speak confidently about what you do as a coach, it’s helpful that you spend a few minutes reading the following articles that can be found on our blog:

  • The Value Proposition Formula: How to appeal to your ideal coaching clients & get more leads – This article explains the three main elements that you need in your profile and how to communicate that in an easy fill-in-the-blank statement.
  • The 10-Second Test: How 60 Seconds of Feedback can Triple Your Leads – The end goal of any profile edits you make is to pass the “10-second test”. This means that anybody, mainly your ideal clients, should be able to understand what service you offer and for whom within 10 seconds. If not, you have work to do.
  • 4 Coach Profiles that Pass the 10-Second Test – The previous posts give you the theory. Here is the applied theory.

In addition to the blog posts, you should check out the hugely valuable webinars we offer.

How to prepare for the interview

The interview itself should be under 5-minutes in length. Once it’s recorded, we edit it for sound quality and then upload it to your profile.

During the interview, we will cover four main topics:

  • Your ideal client
  • Your solution or approach
  • The outcomes and benefits your client experience
  • Your background and training

Keep these key points in mind:

  • You’re the expert on you. The interview will be like you’re having a cup of coffee chatting with a friend who’s curious about your work. No sweat. You’ll be great.
  • This is an audio only recording, we do not record video, so feel free to stay in your pajamas.
  • We usually record the interview in one take. If you stumble over a word or two, just keep going. Our audio editor will cut out the undesirable parts.
  • Try to keep a consistent message between your interview and what you write on your profile. Consistency is key to having a digestible message that gives people confidence about what you do.
  • Keep your answers brief. The final interview should only be around 3-minutes long.
  • Once the audio file is uploaded to your profile, you can listen to it. Let us know if there is anything you want cut out or if you want to re-record it. We want you to be happy with the final product.
  • We record the interview from our computers using Skype. We can use Skype to call your cell or landline but we’ve discovered that Skype to Skype calls tend to provide the best audio sound quality. If you’ve provided us with your Skype ID, please log in to Skype during your scheduled 1-on-1 profile review so we can record the interview that way.
  • You can read answers to the questions above but make sure you don’t sound scripted. People are listening for the way in which you speak as much as the words you say. Both are important.

What coaches are saying about their interview

“Stephan, I appreciate and admire how present you are, how effective you ask your probing and follow-up questions and help people uncover what they need to ask themselves and find the answers within themselves. You embody the qualities of a master coach. I am grateful for all the time that you extended to me to help me in my ongoing learning. Thank you”– Iris Jacobs

Stephan–You ROCK! I learned more from you today in our profile interview (I’d call it a kick butt mastermind session) than I ever anticipated. I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to talk with you and really learn how you operate and really grasped the great benefit you bring to Noomii coaches in setting up their profiles and ultimately revealing the meat of what they bring to the coaching table. (I’m sure you bring powerful high energy to your personal clients as well). Thanks for your time, great ideas, and dedication to what you do!

After reading this article and listening to Stephan on YouTube I realized I have to make changes to our website. I hope to have it done before next week’s interviews. Thanks, Stephan
