Listen in on a 5 mins phone dialogue and how your life purpose can open possibilities for action.
This coaching anecdote illustrates what you can expect and achieve from coaching, even in just 5 minutes. “I need my coach” are first words you hear when you answer the phone. The tone of voice is heavy and the breath slowly drawn. It is your client, Mike. Coach: Hello Mike, How can I be of service? Mike: I have a very important presentation in 7 days and I have been carrying around loads of my notes for weeks and can’t seem to sit down and get it organized. Coach: How is this presentation aligned with your life purpose? It is very on purpose, ‘To create adventure coming from my strong base of self-esteem so that all of us can create a healthier more pleasurable life’. Saving the planet is a huge adventure that would bring us all much pleasure. Coming from my self-esteem I can be more impactful. Coach: If your presentation was wildly successful, and you were brimming with self-esteem before, during and after, what would have happened? Mike, with enthusiasm: I want to give people information and resources so each can contribute to making a healthier planet, environmentally. Also to inspire them to take action. Coach: What flicked your switch? Were you born with this enthusiasm to save the environment? Mike, with passion: About 10 years ago, after an adventurous vacation in the wilderness, breathing in the clean air, freshness and vitality in nature, I returned home. What a contrast. Boy have we made a mess of our beautiful earth. I resolved to do something. Coach: Wow what passion I hear. How might you want to share this passion with your audience to turn on their switches? Mike: I can begin by telling them the story I just told you. That’s it! Coach: What did you learn about yourself so that next time you are stuck in a situation like this you will know what to do? Mike: Pay attention to my passion and use my purpose to guide me forward.
